以賽亞書 36
- 1 希西家王十四年，亞述王西拿基立上來攻擊猶大所有的堅固城，並且把城攻取。
- 2 亞述王從拉吉差派拉伯沙基，帶領大軍往耶路撒冷，到希西家王那裡去。他站在上池的水溝旁，就是在往漂布地之大路上的時候，
- 3 希勒家的兒子管家以利亞敬、書記舍伯那和亞薩的兒子史官約亞，都出來見他。
- 4 拉伯沙基對他們說：“你們去對希西家說：‘亞述大王這樣說：你所倚靠的算得是甚麼倚靠呢？
- 5 我說：你打仗所用的謀略和能力，不過是虛話罷了。你到底倚靠誰，以致你背叛我呢？
- 6 看哪！你所倚靠的埃及，是那壓傷的蘆葦杖；人若倚靠它，它就會插進他的手，把手刺透。埃及王法老對所有倚靠他的人，也是這樣。
- 7 你若對我說：我們倚靠耶和華我們的 神，這 神所有的邱壇和祭壇豈不是都給希西家廢去了，他還對猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：你們只要在這祭壇面前敬拜嗎？
- 8 現在你可以與我的主人亞述王打賭：我給你二千匹馬，看你這一方面能否派出足夠騎馬的人來。
- 9 若不能，你怎能擊退我主的臣僕中最小的軍長呢？你竟倚靠埃及的戰車和馬兵嗎？
- 10 現在，我上來攻打這地，要把這地毀滅，豈沒有耶和華的意思嗎？耶和華曾對我說：你要上去攻打這地，把它毀滅。’”
- 11 以利亞敬、舍伯那和約亞對拉伯沙基說：“請你用亞蘭語對你的僕人說話，因為我們聽得懂；不要用猶大語對我們說話，免得城牆上的人民聽見。”
- 12 但拉伯沙基說：“我主差派我來，只是對你和你的主說這些話嗎？不也是對那些坐在城牆上，要和你們一同吃自己的糞、喝自己的尿的人說嗎？”
- 13 於是拉伯沙基站著，用猶大語大聲呼喊說：“你們要聽亞述大王的話，
- 14 王這樣說：‘你們不要被希西家欺騙了，因為他決不能拯救你們；
- 15 也不要給希西家說服你們倚靠耶和華，說：耶和華必定拯救我們，這城也必不交在亞述王的手中。’
- 16 不要聽希西家的話，因為亞述王這樣說：‘你們要與我和好，出來向我投降，這樣各人就可以吃自己葡萄樹和無花果樹的果子，也可以喝自己井裡的水；
- 17 等到我來的時候，就會把你們領到一個與你們本地一樣的地方；就是一個有五穀和新酒的地方，一個有糧食和葡萄園的地方。
- 18 你們要小心，免得希西家慫恿你們說：耶和華必拯救我們。列國的神有哪一位曾拯救自己的國土脫離亞述王的手呢？
- 19 哈馬和亞珥拔的神在哪裡呢？西法瓦音的神在哪裡呢？他們曾拯救撒瑪利亞脫離我的手嗎？
- 20 這些國所有的神中，有哪一位曾拯救自己的國土脫離我的手呢？難道耶和華能拯救耶路撒冷脫離我的手嗎？’”
- 21 眾人都默不作聲，一句話也沒有回答他，因為王的吩咐說：“不要回答他。”
- 22 於是希勒家的兒子管家以利亞敬、書記舍伯那和亞薩的兒子史官約亞，都撕裂衣服，來到希西家面前，把拉伯沙基的話告訴了他。
