Wisdom 14
- 1 Niin myös se tekee, joka tahtoo purjehtia, ja on aikonut vaeltaa julmissa aalloissa: hän rukoilee puuta, joka heikompi sitä laivaa on, jonka päällä hän vaeltaa;

- 23 Sillä taikka he lapsensa tappavat uhriksi, eli pitävät jonkun jumalanpalveluksen, jota ei tarvita mainittaa, taikka harjoittavat itsiänsä ylönsyömisessä pahalla tavalla,
- 24 Ja ei ole heillä enempi puhdasta elämää aviokäskyssä, vaan toinen tappaa toisen petoksella, eli murheelliseksi tekee huoruudella,
- 25 Ja heidän seassansa käy kaikki sekaisin: veri, murha, varkaus, petos, vilppi, vaatimus, väärä vala, hurskasten levottomuus,
- 26 Kiittämättömyys, nuorten sydänten pahennus, mykät synnit, sukurutsaus, huoruus ja salavuoteus.
- 27 Sillä häpiällisten epäjumalain palvelus on alku, syy ja loppu kaikkeen pahuuteen.
- 28 Jos he pyhäpäivää pitävät, niin he tekevät kuin hullut; jos he ennustavat, niin se on kaikki valhe; ei he oikein elä, ja ovat nopsat valalla pettämään.
- 29 Sillä he uskovat hengettömäin jumalten päälle, niin ei he pelkää vahinkoa, kuin he vannovat väärin.
- 30 Kuitenkin oikein heille se tapahtuu, sekä ettei heillä ole oikiaa tietoa Jumalasta, että he epäjumalista ottavat vaarin, ja että he vannovat väärin, ja ei he pyhästä lukua pidä.
- 31 Sillä jumalattomain pahuus saa lopun, ei siitä vallasta, joka heillä on vannoissansa, vaan siitä rangaistuksesta, jonka he synnillänsä ansaitsevat.
