Ieremia 47
- 1 Iată Cuvântul Domnului spus prorocului Ieremia cu privire la filisteni, înainte ca Faraon să bată Gaza.
- 2 „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ‘Iată, se ridică nişte ape de la miazănoapte, cresc ca un râu ieşit din matcă, îneacă ţara şi ce cuprinde ea, cetatea şi locuitorii ei. Ţipă oamenii şi se bocesc toţi locuitorii ţării
- 3 de tropăitul copitelor cailor lui puternici, de uruitul carelor lui şi de scârţâitul roţilor; părinţii nu se mai întorc spre copiii lor, atât le sunt de slăbite mâinile,
- 4 pentru că vine ziua când vor fi nimiciţi toţi filistenii şi stârpiţi toţi cei ce slujeau ca ajutoare Tirului şi Sidonului. Căci Domnul va nimici pe filisteni, rămăşiţele ostrovului Caftor.
- 5 Gaza a ajuns pleşuvă, Ascalonul piere cu rămăşiţa văilor lui! «Până când îţi vei face tăieturi de jale în piele?»
- 6 «Ah! Sabie a Domnului, când te vei odihni odată? Întoarce-te în teacă, opreşte-te şi fii liniştită!»’
- 7 Dar cum ar putea să se odihnească? Când Domnul doar îi porunceşte şi o îndreaptă împotriva Ascalonului şi coastei mării.”
