Camping Granola


  • 6 cups rolled oats
  • 2 and 1/2 cups bran
  • 1 and 3/4 cake flour
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1 - 2 cups sunflowerseeds
  • 1/2 cup linn/flax seed
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla exstract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar


  1. Mix all the dry ingredients together, except for the sugar, well in a large bowl.
  2. Mix all the wet ingredients together in a litre jug.

  3. Pour the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and stir very well till all is combined.
  4. Spread the mixture open on 2 large baking trays and bake an hour at 120 degrees celcius.  Stir the granola around during the baking time to allow inside to bake crispy as well.  In humid conditions the baking time can be adjusted accordingly.  Bake it till dry and crunchy. Leave to cool.
  5. When the gronala is cooled off nuts, raisins, and chopped dried fruit can be added according to taste.  Store in a sealed container or quart jars in a cool dark place.


    And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.
