- 1 以色列子、各攜眷屬、偕雅各至埃及者、其名如左、
- 2 流便、西緬、利未、猶大、
- 3 以薩迦、西布倫、便雅憫、
- 4 但、拿弗他利、迦得、亞設、
- 5 凡由雅各而出者、共七十人、約瑟已在埃及、
- 6 約瑟與諸昆弟、及同世之人皆沒、
- 7 以色列族生育繁多、昌熾強大、充滿是邦、○
- 8 埃及有新王起、不知約瑟、
- 9 告民曰、以色列族強庶過我、
- 10 莫若以智謀馭之、免其衆多、遇有戰事、附敵攻我、離國而去、
- 11 於是立督、加重負以虐之、使爲法老建比東蘭塞二邑、以爲府庫、
- 12 然虐之愈甚、其生愈繁、埃及人憂之、
- 13 遂嚴督其役、
- 14 使之作苦、以勞其生、和泥、陶瓦、力田、所服之役、無不以嚴、○
- 15 希伯來之收生者、一名施弗拉、一名普阿、
- 16 埃及王命之曰、爾爲希伯來婦收生、值臨產時、男則殺之、女則存焉、
- 17 惟收生者畏上帝、不遵埃及王命、竟存男子、
- 18 王召之曰、存男奚爲、
- 19 對曰、希伯來婦健捷、與埃及婦不同、收生者未至、而子已產矣、
- 20 緣此、上帝施恩於收生者、民之生育、繁衍強大、
- 21 因收生者畏上帝、上帝俾其成立家室、
- 22 法老命其民曰、凡其所生之男、悉投諸河、生女則全其命、
