1 ซามูเอล 15
- 1 ซามูเอลก็เรียนซาอูลว่า “พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงใช้ให้ข้าพเจ้ามาเจิมท่านเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอลประชาชนของพระองค์ เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้ขอท่านฟังเสียงพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์
- 2 พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า ‘เราจะลงโทษอามาเลขในการที่สกัดทางอิสราเอลเมื่อเขาออกจากอียิปต์
- 3 บัดนี้ท่านจงไปโจมตีอามาเลข และทำลายบรรดาที่เขามีนั้นเสียให้สิ้นเชิง อย่าปรานีเขาเลย จงฆ่าเสียทั้งผู้ชายผู้หญิง ทั้งทารกและเด็กที่ยังดูดนม ทั้งวัว แกะ อูฐและลา’”
- 4 ดังนั้นซาอูลจึงรวบรวมพวกพลและตรวจพลที่ตำบลเทลาอิม ได้ทหารราบสองแสนคนและคนยูดาห์หนึ่งหมื่นคน
- 5 ซาอูลก็ทรงยกกองทัพมายังเมืองแห่งหนึ่งของคนอามาเลข และตั้งซุ่มอยู่ในหุบเขา
- 6 และซาอูลตรัสแก่คนเคไนต์ว่า “ไปเถิด จงแยกไปเสีย ลงไปเสียจากคนอามาเลข เกรงว่าเราจะทำลายพวกท่านไปพร้อมกับเขา เพราะท่านทั้งหลายได้แสดงความเมตตาต่อคนอิสราเอลทั้งหลายเมื่อเขายกออกมาจากอียิปต์” ดังนั้นคนเคไนต์ก็แยกออกไปจากคนอามาเลข
- 7 และซาอูลก็ทรงกระทำให้คนอามาเลขพ่ายแพ้ ตั้งแต่เมืองฮาวิลาห์ไกลไปจนถึงเมืองชูร์ ซึ่งอยู่ด้านหน้าอียิปต์
- 8 ทรงจับอากักกษัตริย์ของคนอามาเลขได้ทั้งเป็น และได้ฆ่าฟันประชาชนเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิงด้วยคมดาบ
- 9 แต่ซาอูลและประชาชนได้ไว้ชีวิตอากัก และที่ดีที่สุดของแกะกับวัวและสัตว์อ้วนพีกับลูกแกะ และสิ่งดีๆทั้งหมด ไม่ยอมทำลายเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิง ทุกสิ่งที่เขาดูถูกและไร้ค่า เขาก็ทำลายเสียสิ้น
- 10 แล้วพระวจนะแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์มายังซามูเอลว่า
- 11 “เราเสียใจแล้วที่เราได้ตั้งซาอูลเป็นกษัตริย์ เพราะเขาได้หันกลับเสียจากการตามเรา และไม่ได้กระทำตามบัญญัติของเรา” และซามูเอลก็โศกเศร้าจึงร้องทูลต่อพระเยโฮวาห์คืนยังรุ่ง
- 12 และซามูเอลลุกขึ้นแต่เช้าตรู่เพื่อจะไปหาซาอูลในเช้าวันนั้น และมีคนไปเรียนซามูเอลว่า “ซาอูลเสด็จมาที่ภูเขาคารเมล และดูเถิด ทรงมาสร้างที่ระลึกของพระองค์แล้วก็หันและผ่านเรื่อยไปจนลงไปถึงกิลกาล”
- 13 และซามูเอลก็มาหาซาอูล และซาอูลเรียนท่านว่า “ขอพระเยโฮวาห์อวยพระพรท่านเถิด ข้าพเจ้าได้ปฏิบัติตามพระบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์แล้ว”
- 14 และซามูเอลกล่าวว่า “ถ้าอย่างนั้นเสียงแกะที่ร้องเข้าหูข้าพเจ้ากับเสียงวัวที่ข้าพเจ้าได้ยินหมายความว่ากระไร”
- 15 ซาอูลตอบว่า “เขาทั้งหลายได้นำมาจากคนอามาเลข เพราะพวกพลได้ไว้ชีวิตแกะและวัวที่ดีที่สุด เพื่อเป็นเครื่องสัตวบูชาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน นอกจากนั้นเราทั้งหลายก็ได้ทำลายเสียสิ้น”
- 16 แล้วซามูเอลจึงเรียนซาอูลว่า “ให้รอก่อน ข้าพเจ้าจะขอเรียนท่านว่า พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับข้าพเจ้าอย่างไรคืนนี้” และซาอูลก็เรียนท่านว่า “จงกล่าวไปเถิด”
- 17 และซามูเอลเรียนว่า “แม้ท่านเป็นแต่ผู้เล็กน้อยในสายตาของท่านเอง ท่านก็ได้รับแต่งตั้งให้เป็นประมุขของบรรดาตระกูลอิสราเอล และพระเยโฮวาห์ก็ทรงเจิมท่านไว้เป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอลมิใช่หรือ
- 18 และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงใช้ให้ท่านออกไปประกอบกิจ ตรัสว่า ‘จงไปทำลายคนอามาเลขคนบาปหนาเสียให้สิ้นเชิง และต่อสู้กับเขาจนกว่าเขาจะถูกผลาญเสียหมด’
- 19 เหตุใดท่านจึงไม่เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์ แต่ไปฉกฉวยทรัพย์สิ่งของต่างๆ และกระทำชั่วในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์”
- 20 และซาอูลเรียนซามูเอลว่า “ข้าพเจ้าได้เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์แล้ว ข้าพเจ้าได้ไปประกอบกิจตามที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงใช้ข้าพเจ้าไป ข้าพเจ้าได้คุมตัวอากักกษัตริย์แห่งคนอามาเลขมา และข้าพเจ้าก็ได้ทำลายคนอามาเลขเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิง
- 21 แต่พวกพลได้เก็บส่วนของทรัพย์เชลยรวมทั้งแกะและวัว ส่วนที่ดีที่สุดจากของซึ่งกำหนดให้ทำลายเสียให้สิ้นเชิงนั้น เพื่อนำมาเป็นเครื่องสัตวบูชาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านที่ในเมืองกิลกาล”
- 22 และซามูเอลกล่าวว่า “พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพอพระทัยในเครื่องเผาบูชา และเครื่องสัตวบูชามากเท่ากับการที่จะเชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์หรือ ดูเถิด ที่จะเชื่อฟังก็ดีกว่าเครื่องสัตวบูชา และซึ่งจะสดับฟังก็ดีกว่าไขมันของบรรดาแกะผู้
- 23 เพราะการกบฏก็เป็นเหมือนบาปแห่งการถือฤกษ์ถือยาม และความดื้อดึงก็เป็นเหมือนความชั่วช้าและการไหว้รูปเคารพ เพราะเหตุที่ท่านทอดทิ้งพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ พระองค์จึงทรงถอดท่านออกจากตำแหน่งกษัตริย์”
- 24 และซาอูลเรียนซามูเอลว่า “ข้าพเจ้าได้กระทำบาปแล้ว เพราะข้าพเจ้าได้ละเมิดพระบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์และคำของท่าน เพราะข้าพเจ้าเกรงกลัวประชาชนและยอมฟังเสียงของเขาทั้งหลาย
- 25 เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้ขอท่านโปรดอภัยบาปของข้าพเจ้า และขอกลับไปกับข้าพเจ้า เพื่อข้าพเจ้าจะได้นมัสการพระเยโฮวาห์”
- 26 และซามูเอลเรียนซาอูลว่า “ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่กลับไปกับท่าน เพราะท่านทอดทิ้งพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงถอดท่านจากเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล”
- 27 พอซามูเอลหันจะไป ซาอูลก็ได้ยึดชายเสื้อของท่านไว้และเสื้อนั้นก็ขาด
- 28 และซามูเอลเรียนท่านว่า “ในวันนี้พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงฉีกราชอาณาจักรอิสราเอลเสียจากท่านแล้ว และทรงมอบให้แก่ผู้อื่นที่ดีกว่าท่าน
- 29 ยิ่งกว่านี้ผู้ทรงเป็นกำลังของอิสราเอลจะไม่มุสาหรือกลับใจ เพราะว่าพระองค์หาใช่มนุษย์ที่จะกลับใจไม่”
- 30 ฝ่ายซาอูลจึงเรียนว่า “ข้าพเจ้าได้กระทำบาปแล้ว แต่บัดนี้ขอท่านให้เกียรติแก่ข้าพเจ้า ต่อหน้าพวกผู้ใหญ่ของประชาชนของข้าพเจ้า และต่อหน้าคนอิสราเอล ขอกลับไปกับข้าพเจ้าเพื่อข้าพเจ้าจะได้นมัสการพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน”
- 31 ซามูเอลจึงกลับตามซาอูลไป และซาอูลก็นมัสการพระเยโฮวาห์
- 32 แล้วซามูเอลกล่าวว่า “ท่านทั้งหลายจงนำอากักกษัตริย์ของคนอามาเลขมาให้ข้าพเจ้า” และอากักก็เข้ามาหาท่านด้วยหน้าตาเบิกบาน อากักกล่าวว่า “ความขมขื่นแห่งความตายก็ผ่านพ้นไปแน่แล้ว”
- 33 ฝ่ายซามูเอลกล่าวว่า “ดาบของท่านได้กระทำให้ผู้หญิงไร้บุตรฉันใด มารดาของท่านจะไร้บุตรในหมู่พวกผู้หญิงทั้งหลายฉันนั้น” และซามูเอลก็ฟันอากักเสียเป็นท่อนๆต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ที่ในกิลกาล
- 34 ฝ่ายซามูเอลก็ไปรามาห์ และซาอูลก็เสด็จขึ้นไปยังวังของพระองค์ที่กิเบอาห์แห่งซาอูล
- 35 และซามูเอลไม่มาพบซาอูลอีกจนวันสิ้นชีพ แต่ซามูเอลได้โศกเศร้าเพราะซาอูล และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกลับพระทัยที่ได้ทรงกระทำให้ซาอูลเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล
