1 Timothy 3
- 1 人ありて監督の務を欲するは善き業を欲するなりとは眞の談なり、
- 2 然れば監督は、咎むべき所なく、唯一婦の夫たり、謹慎、怜悧、端正、貞潔にして旅人を接待し、善く教を施し、
- 3 酒を嗜まず、人を打たず、柔和にして争はず、利を貪らず、
- 4 善く其家を治め、其子女の謹みて之に服從する人たらざるべからず。
- 5 人若己が家を治むるを知らずば、如何にしてか神の教會に奮励せん。
- 6 監督は新信徒たるべからず、恐くは驕りて惡魔に等しき審判に陥らん。
- 7 又外の人々に好評ある人たるべし、是耻辱と惡魔の罠とに陥らざらん為なり。
- 8 執事等も斯の如く、尊くして兩舌ならず、酒を嗜まず、耻づべき利を貪らず、
- 9 潔き良心を以て信仰の奥義を保てる者たるべし。
- 10 彼等も先試を受けて、咎むべき所なくば務むべきなり。
- 11 婦人等も斯の如く、尊くして譏らず、節制して萬事に忠實なる者たるべし。
- 12 執事等は、一婦の夫にして善く其子女と家とを治むる者たるべし、
- 13 其は善く務めたる者は善き階級を得て、キリスト、イエズスに於る信仰に就きて大いなる勇氣を得べければなり。
- 14 我早く汝に至らん事を望みつつ是等の事を書遣るは、
- 15 若遅からん時、汝をして神の家に於て如何に行ふべきかを知らしめん為なり、神の家とは活き給へる神の教會なり、眞理の柱にして且基なり。
- 16 實にも大いなる哉敬虔の奥義、即ち[キリストは]肉に於て顕はされ、霊によりて證せられ、天使等に顕れ、異邦人に傳へられ、世に信ぜられ、光榮に上げられ給ひしなり。
