- 1 尼尼微啊！那分散邦國的必上來攻擊你，你要固守堡壘，嚴防要道，束緊你的腰，大大增強你的力量。（本節在《馬索拉抄本》為2:2）
- 2 然而，耶和華必恢復雅各的光榮，好像以色列的光榮一樣；因為劫掠的人曾把他們劫掠一空，又把他們的葡萄枝子毀壞了。
- 3 他勇士的盾牌是紅的，戰士的衣服是朱紅的。在他預備出擊的時候，戰車的鋼鐵閃爍如火，騎兵疾馳。
- 4 戰車在街上狂奔，在廣場上東奔西馳；它們看起來像火把，跑起來像閃電。
- 5 亞述王召集他的權臣，他們碰碰跌跌而來，急急忙忙走上城牆，豎起了防禦的擋牌。
- 6 河閘都被打開，宮殿也給摧毀了。
- 7 王后赤身被擄去；她的宮女都哀哭，聲如鴿子，各人搥胸痛哭。
- 8 自古以來，尼尼微一直都像個水池，池水不斷流出；雖然有人呼叫：“止住！止住！”卻沒有回轉的。
- 9 你們劫掠銀子，搶奪金子吧！積蓄的財寶無窮無盡，珍貴的器皿不可勝數。
- 10 現在卻空虛、荒涼，一無所有；人心驚惶，兩膝發抖，全身疼痛，面無血色。
- 11 獅子的洞穴在哪裡？餵養幼獅的地方在哪裡？公獅、母獅和幼獅不受驚嚇之處，可以閒遊的地方又在哪裡呢？
- 12 公獅為幼獅撕碎足夠的食物，為母獅掐死活物；把獵物塞滿了牠的洞，把撕碎的填滿了牠的穴。
- 13 萬軍之耶和華說：看哪！我必攻擊你，我要把你的戰車焚燒成煙，刀劍必吞滅你的幼獅；我必從地上除去你的獵物，你使者的聲音也必不再有人聽見。
