เยเรมีย์ 24
- 1 หลังจากเนบูคัดเนสซาร์กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนได้จับเยโคนิยาห์ราชบุตรของเยโฮยาคิมกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ไปเป็นเชลยเสียจากเยรูซาเล็ม พร้อมกับเจ้านายแห่งยูดาห์ ทั้งพวกช่างไม้และช่างเหล็ก และนำเขามายังกรุงบาบิโลนแล้ว พระเยโฮวาห์ก็ทรงสำแดงนิมิตแก่ข้าพเจ้าดังนี้ ดูเถิด มีกระจาดสองลูกใส่มะเดื่อ วางไว้หน้าพระวิหารของพระเยโฮวาห์
- 2 กระจาดลูกหนึ่งมีมะเดื่ออย่างดีนัก เหมือนมะเดื่อที่สุกต้นฤดู แต่กระจาดอีกลูกหนึ่งนั้นมีมะเดื่ออย่างเลวทีเดียว เลวจนรับประทานไม่ได้
- 3 และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่ข้าพเจ้าว่า “เยเรมีย์เอ๋ย เจ้าเห็นอะไร” ข้าพเจ้าทูลตอบว่า “เห็นมะเดื่อที่ดีก็ดีมาก และที่เลวก็เลวมาก เลวจนรับประทานไม่ได้ พระเจ้าข้า”
- 4 แล้วพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาถึงข้าพเจ้าอีกว่า
- 5 “พระเยโฮวาห์ พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ก็เหมือนอย่างมะเดื่อที่ดีเหล่านี้แหละ เราจะถือว่าพวกเหล่านั้นที่ถูกกวาดไปจากยูดาห์ยังดีอยู่ คือผู้ที่เราได้ส่งไปจากสถานที่นี้ไปสู่แผ่นดินของชาวเคลเดีย
- 6 เราจะตั้งตาของเราดูเขาเพื่อจะกระทำความดี และเราจะพาเขาทั้งหลายกลับมายังแผ่นดินนี้อีก เราจะสร้างเขาทั้งหลายขึ้น และจะไม่รื้อลง เราจะปลูกฝังเขาและไม่ถอนเขาเสีย
- 7 เราจะให้จิตใจแก่เขาที่จะรู้จักเราว่า เราคือพระเยโฮวาห์ และเขาทั้งหลายจะเป็นประชาชนของเรา และเราจะเป็นพระเจ้าของเขา เพราะเขาทั้งหลายจะกลับมาหาเราด้วยความเต็มใจ”
- 8 แต่พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า “เหมือนอย่างมะเดื่อที่เลว ซึ่งเลวมากจนรับประทานไม่ได้นั้น เราจะกระทำต่อเศเดคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ ทั้งเจ้านายของเขา และชาวเยรูซาเล็มที่เหลืออยู่ ผู้ซึ่งยังค้างอยู่ในแผ่นดินนี้ และผู้ที่ยังอาศัยอยู่ในประเทศอียิปต์
- 9 เราจะมอบเขาไว้ให้ย้ายไปอยู่ในอาณาจักรทั้งสิ้นในโลกเพื่อให้เขาเจ็บปวด ให้เป็นที่ถูกตำหนิ เป็นคำภาษิต เป็นที่ถูกเยาะเย้ย และเป็นที่ถูกสาปแช่ง ในที่ทุกแห่งซึ่งเราขับไล่เขาให้ไปอยู่นั้น
- 10 และเราจะส่งดาบและการกันดารอาหาร และโรคระบาดมาท่ามกลางเขา จนเขาจะถูกทำลายอย่างสิ้นเชิงจากแผ่นดินซึ่งเราได้ให้แก่เขาและแก่บรรพบุรุษของเขา”
