Ordspråkenes bok 13
- 1 En vis sønn hører på sin fars tilrettevisning, men en spotter hører ikke på irettesettelse.
- 2 Av sin munns frukt nyter en mann godt, men de troløses hu står til vold.
- 3 Den som vokter sin munn, bevarer sitt liv; den som lukker sine leber vidt op, ham blir det til ulykke.
- 4 Den late attrår og får intet, men de flittige næres rikelig.
- 5 Den rettferdige hater løgnaktige ord, men den ugudelige gjør det som ondt og skammelig er.
- 6 Rettferdighet verner den som lever ustraffelig, men ugudelighet feller den som gjør synd.
- 7 Den ene ter sig som en rik mann og har dog slett ingen ting, og den andre ter sig som en fattig mann og har dog meget gods.
- 8 En manns rikdom er løsepenger for hans liv, men den fattige er det ingen som truer.
- 9 De rettferdiges lys skinner lystig, men de ugudeliges lampe slukner.
- 10 Ved overmot voldes bare trette, men hos dem som lar sig råde, er visdom.
- 11 Lett vunnet rikdom minker, men den som samler litt efter litt, øker sitt gods.
- 12 Langvarig venting gjør hjertet sykt, men et opfylt ønske er et livsens tre.
- 13 Den som forakter ordet, ødelegger sig selv; men den som frykter budet, han får lønn.
- 14 Den vises lære er en livsens kilde, ved den slipper en fra dødens snarer.
- 15 Ved god forstand vinner en menneskenes yndest, men de troløses vei er hård.
- 16 Hver den som er klok, går frem med forstand, men en dåre utbreder dårskap.
- 17 Et ugudelig sendebud faller i ulykke, men et trofast bud er lægedom.
- 18 Armod og skam får den som ikke vil vite av tukt; men den som akter på refselse, blir æret.
- 19 Opfylt ønske er søtt for sjelen, men å holde sig fra det onde er en vederstyggelighet for dårer.
- 20 Søk omgang med de vise, og du skal bli vis; men dårers venn går det ille.
- 21 Ulykke forfølger syndere, men rettferdige lønnes med godt.
- 22 Den gode efterlater arv til barnebarn, men synderens gods er gjemt til den rettferdige.
- 23 De fattiges nyland gir meget føde; men mangen rykkes bort fordi han ikke gjør det som rett er.
- 24 Den som sparer sitt ris, hater sin sønn; men den som elsker ham, tukter ham tidlig.
- 25 Den rettferdige eter så han blir mett, men de ugudeliges buk blir tom.
