- 1 維時、猶大離諸昆弟、就亞杜蘭人希拉、
- 2 見迦南人書亞女、娶之、與之同室、
- 3 婦姙生子、猶大名之曰珥、
- 4 再姙生子、母名之曰俄南、
- 5 復姙生子、名之曰示拉、時、猶大居於基悉、
- 6 猶大爲長子珥娶室、名他瑪、
- 7 珥行惡於耶和華前、耶和華殺之、
- 8 猶大命俄南曰、汝其與嫂同室、以盡弟分、生子嗣兄、
- 9 俄南知子不歸己、不欲爲兄存後、與嫂偕寢時、遺洩於地、
- 10 所爲不悅於耶和華、耶和華亦殺之、
- 11 猶大恐季子亦死、如二兄然、謂媳他瑪曰、姑居父家、守志勿嫁、待吾子示拉長、遂往居父家、○
- 12 久之、猶大妻書亞女死、猶大旣得慰藉、與友亞杜蘭人希拉往亭拿、就剪羊毛者、
- 13 或告他瑪曰、汝舅往亭拿剪羊毛、
- 14 他瑪見示拉長、而未得嫁之、乃去嫠服、以帕蒙面蔽體、坐於伊拿印邑門、在往亭拿之途側、
- 15 猶大見其蔽面、以爲妓、
- 16 道旁就之曰、來、我與爾偕寢、蓋不知爲媳也、婦曰、與我偕寢、何以贈我、
- 17 曰、必遺羣中山羊之羔、曰、羔未至、與質否、
- 18 曰、與爾何質、曰、爾印與紳、及手中杖、乃畀之、遂與偕寢、婦卽懷姙、
- 19 起而去、脫帕、仍衣嫠服、
- 20 猶大託友亞杜蘭人遺之羔、由婦取質、而不獲見、
- 21 詢居民曰、伊拿印道旁、有妓安在、曰、此地無妓、
- 22 返見猶大曰、求之不得、居民亦言彼地無妓、
- 23 猶大曰、吾旣託爾遺羔、不得其人、任婦得質、免我貽羞、○
- 24 約越三月、或告猶大曰、爾媳他瑪有淫行、今已懷姙、猶大曰、曳出焚之、
- 25 旣出、遣人謂舅曰、我之懷姙、由於此物之主、試觀此印、及紳與杖、爲誰所有、
- 26 猶大承之、曰、我不嫁之與子示拉、婦猶賢於我也、嗣後猶大不復近之、
- 27 婦臨產、知其孿生、
- 28 產際、其一出手、收生者以絳絲繫之、曰、此首出也、
- 29 手入、其他出矣、收生者曰、爾何自坼、故命名法勒斯、
- 30 其手繫絳絲者後出、命名謝拉、
